"The Watermellon Boys" has been around since 1998, performing mainly for corporate events, such as the incentive groups which come to the larger, more affluent hotels of Cancun. Some of our past clients include - CITIBANK, BLOCKBUSTER VIDEO, MICROSOFT MEXICO, MAYAN PALACE RESORTS, MARRIOTT HOTELS, BROOKSTREET SECURITIES, THE BOISE GROUP, INTEL, EDWARDS SYSTEMS TECHNOLOGY, NEXTEL, GE, BBV BANCOMER, MEXICO SHOWCASE TRAVEL GROUP, THE BRITISH EMBASSY, NEOPOST, THE ABC CABLE GROUP, among others. All the various musicians have had wide ranging experience, playing and touring around the world over the years, often with very well known artists.* Our sound can be described as "contemporary caribbean roots music", and our range is quite flexible, in that we tend to cover a fairly wide spectrum of moods and musical styles. Therefore, we can be as comfortable doing cocktails or dinner sets, as well as party or concert style performances. The band consists of two musicians, playing steeldrums and percussion, backed by a sequencer, which provides all the other instrumentation. We sometimes play with a saxophone player, which adds a jazzier element to our sound, and on rare occasion we get another "steelpan" player in from the US, which tends to bring a more traditional aspect to our sound. Needless to say, we general perform as a trio, with the third element being somewhat flexible.
